Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Adhere to process guidelines, industry regulations, and company specifications.
• Operate standard maintenance tools, such as power tools and basic electrical testing equipment, in a safe and effective manner.
• Conduct preventative maintenance tasks, encompassing routine checks up to comprehensive annual maintenance procedures.
• Accurately interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Independently diagnose and resolve intricate mechanical and electrical problems.
• Comply with all prescribed safety rules, regulations, and departmental policies.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of safe work practices.
• Identify the root cause of malfunctions by observing equipment in operation, listening for unusual sounds, and utilizing precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Understand and become certified in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Determine necessary follow-up work and procure required materials, tools, and documentation for planned maintenance activities.
• Assess job sites as needed to define the scope of reactive maintenance work.
• Prepare work areas, including setting up scaffolding and ensuring safety measures are in place.
• Respond to urgent maintenance requests from the immediate supervisor and transition to subsequent tasks as directed.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to address and resolve issues encountered during work execution.
• Complete post-job tasks, including inventorying tools, reconciling parts usage, applying sanitation tags, and informing production personnel of completed work.
• Communicate effectively through written daily reports, detailing issues encountered and actions taken.
• Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance procedures for electronically controlled equipment, plant instrumentation, and data collection systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot electronically controlled equipment, plant instrumentation, and plant data collection systems.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
• Strong aptitude in both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and other engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand detailed blueprints, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
• A strong personal commitment to safety, with the ability to consistently follow all safety policies and procedures and proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions.
• Flexibility to work weekend and off-shift hours as required.
• Experience in programming and troubleshooting, preferably with Allen-Bradley control systems.
• Willingness to participate as a member of the Hazmat team.

Nice-to-haves:

• Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn SAP/PPE systems.
• Prior maintenance experience within a food processing environment.
• Competence in using standard test and calibration equipment, including RTD calibrators, digital multimeters, and 4 to 20 mA calibration units.
